A straight smile

Teeth straightening at Walton Road Dental Practice, Warrington

At Walton Road we now provide a range of orthodontic treatments from conventional orthodontics to Invisalign. Many people wish their teeth could be straighter, but have been put off by the cost, length of treatment or the thought of having to wear unsightly metal braces.

Invisalign

Teeth and jaws that are not properly aligned can cause an irregular bite, possibly leading to increased wear on the tooth enamel and painful trauma to the supporting bone and jaw joints. Invisalign clear dental aligners for adults & teens effectively address these orthodontic issues. You can have the confidence of a new and straighter smile and at the same time improve your overall dental health.

The metal wires and brackets of traditional fixed braces often trap food, which can lead to a build of up plaque and eventually tooth decay. As Invisalign clear dental aligners for adults & teens are made of removable plastic, you can brush and floss with ease, allowing for better oral health during your treatment.

Crowded or widely spaced teeth can result in swollen, red gums, which is a sign of periodontal disease. When teeth are properly aligned, the gums fit securely around the teeth and allow for a strong defence against periodontal problems. Once treatment has been completed and Invisalign have straightened your teeth, you may find improvements in your overall gum health.

Fixed metal brace

Fixed metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic appliance. Made up of three components, small brackets made of high grade medical stainless steel are glued to the front of your teeth. A thin archwire then connects these braces and elastic bands are attached to provide gentle force to the teeth. Fixed metal braces are extremely effective in straightening teeth and can correct both major and minor orthodontic problems. Advancements in orthodontic technology have also made the brackets smaller, allowing for a more comfortable treatment experience.

Ceramic braces

Ceramic braces are much less obvious than fixed metal braces because the brackets are made of a hard, polished ceramic. This ceramic blends in with the colour of your teeth and doesn’t stain, providing a discreet treatment option if you’re self-conscious about having orthodontic treatment. In some instances, it may be possible to consider an aesthetic wire to further reduce the visual impact of the ceramic braces. There are several types of ceramic brackets. A clear ceramic bracket with glass-like appearance allows your natural tooth colour to show through. Ceramic brackets are cemented to the teeth in the same way as metal brackets and with improved modern design they are now easily removed. Ceramic braces are also one of the more affordable treatment options, making them extremely popular with our adult patients.

Quick Straight Teeth

Similar to Six Month Smiles but tailored more for simple cases Quick Straight Teeth is an orthodontic system ideally suited for minor corrections sorted quickly. The best time to carry out orthodontics (correcting teeth irregularities) is as soon as the adult teeth appear. If treatment is started at this time then the adult teeth will naturally grow into the perfect position.

Ensuring that your teeth develop and position as nature intended avoids unnecessary extractions of healthy teeth.

In teenagers and adults, fixed braces are normally used as they allow precise control of tooth position.
