Wrinkles and facial lines appear as we age, excessive sun exposure, alcohol consumption, emotional and hormonal influences can increase the likelihood of wrinkles.
At Walton Road Dental Practice we offer a range of treatments that reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, leaving you with natural but effective results.
Dermal fillers essentially consist of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring collagen found in the body. Our stores of this compound deplete as we age and therefore skin becomes less supple and can wrinkle easily. As it is a naturally occurring compound within the body it is safe to use and allergic reactions are very rare.
Dermal fillers come in a variety of thicknesses so they can be targeted to specific areas of the face and be tailored to the individual. For example, deep nasolabial lines (nose to mouth) may need a thick particle filler as this will need to be injected deeper into the layers of the dermis (skin), but for fine lines around the mouth or eyes, a very fine particle filler would be best as this is injected more superficially.
Common areas that can be treated with dermal fillers are:
Anti wrinkle treatment is a popular and convenient alternative to surgery, reducing and relaxing frown lines, forehead lines, and laughter lines around the eyes. The treatment will give the face a smoother, more rested appearance, reducing the signs of ageing.
Besides being popular for cosmetic purposes, anti wrinkle treatments can also be used as a safe, effective treatment for patients who grind or clench their teeth, helping with tension headaches and migraines.
We believe that less is definitely more. A small dose, expertly administered, can deliver impressive, natural-looking results, without looking like you have had treatment. This involves an injection into target muscles of the face, temporarily helping them to relax. This blocks the messages being sent from the nerves to the muscles, thereby preventing the muscles from contracting, which in turn softens facial expressions and can reverse the signs of ageing or prevent further lines and wrinkles from developing.
Results can be seen as quickly as 2-3 days post injection although for the full effects it may take a while longer and it is best to wait 10-14 days. The speed of action will be influenced by the strength and response of your muscles. It is sometimes necessary to ‘top-up’ after the initial treatment depending on the strength of the muscle, although fewer repeat visits will be required after each treatment.
